I tēnei tūranga ka mahi koe i te pūtahitanga o te mātauranga Māori, te ao mātauranga me te tikanga o te whare taonga – te wāhi e noho ai ngā taonga, ngā kōrero me te tangata ki te pūtake o te ako mutunga-kore. Piri mai ki a mātou ki te hoahoa i ngā wheako akoranga haumako, rumaki hoki, e tūhono atu ana ki ngā ākonga, ngā kaiako me ngā whānau puta noa i ngā horopaki mātauranga arareo Māori me te arareo Ingarihi hoki.

Kaupapa o te tūranga nei:

Ka mahi ngātahi koe ki tētahi kāhui kaiwhakaako, kairauhī, hoa rangapū ā-iwi, me ngā hoa patui o te rāngai mātauranga hei whakawhanake, hei tuku hoki i ngā wheako ako auaha, whai wāhi hoki, ka whakaatu, ka whakatairanga hoki i te pūmau o Te Papa ki Te Tiriti. • Kia hihiri te whai wāhi ki ngā arawātea ako ngaio mā ngā kaiako me ngā hoa mahi e pā ana ki ngā marau me ngā arawātea ako i Te Papa.

In this role you will work at the interface of mātauranga Māori, education, and museum practice – where taonga, stories and people are at the heart of lifelong learning. Purpose of the position:

You'll collaborate with a team of educators, curators, iwi partnerships, and education sector partners to develop and deliver innovative, participatory learning experiences that reflect and promote Te Papa's commitment to being Te Tiriti-led. This is a chance to make a real impact on the future of education, cultural understanding, and the expression of tino rangatiratanga in our learning spaces.

In this role, you will:

• Lead the development and delivery of learning experiences for ākonga and their whānau in Māori-medium settings from kōhanga reo to wharekura and wānanga.
• Collaborate across the learning team to develop and deliver learning experiences for English-medium that embed kaupapa Māori values, pedagogies and practices.
• Use your skills in object-based learning and participatory pedagogy to connect ākonga and their communities to Te Papa's taonga and stories.
• Actively participate in and contribute to professional learning opportunities for kaiako and colleagues in relation to curricula and education opportunities in Te Papa.

What we're looking for:

• A fluent Te Reo Māori speaker with a strong foundation in tikanga Māori.
• Experience engaging in Māori medium settings, ideally with design and delivery of learning programmes in kura Māori, kura ā iwi, or other kaupapa Māori educational contexts.
• A collaborative team member with excellent facilitation and communication skills, and a passion for connecting ākonga across Aotearoa with the rich collections and stories housed at Te Papa.

Other Information:

This is a full-time fixed term role until June 2027, 40 hours per week, worked Monday to Friday, and based at Te Papa, Wellington.

Salary: The starting salary will be between $79,299 – $92,136 based on skills, experience and internal relativities.
